Goosnargh Farmers Market celebrates local food, coffee and community

Goosnargh Farmers Market on 9 May 2026 was a celebration of the people, produce and community spirit that make Lancashire’s food and drink scene so special.

From the moment the market opened, there was a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Visitors took the time to stop, chat with stallholders, sample products and learn more about the stories behind them. Those conversations are one of the things that make farmers markets valuable, they give people the chance to meet the producers and discover exactly where their food and drink comes from.

Many visitors enjoyed comparing the different coffees by smelling the beans before tasting. This experience gave people a chance to explore the distinct aromas of each origin and discover something new. The Nicaraguan coffee drew a particularly enthusiastic response, so much so that we have now sold out!

Its popularity showed just how open local customers are to trying new and interesting flavours. A Local Farmers market wouldn’t be the first place you would expect to find an Anaerobically fermented micro-lot coffee but it was a surprise hit.

It was also a privilege to trade alongside some of Lancashire and the north west’s most respected producers, including Mrs Kirkham's, Wryesdale Butchers and Martin Frickel. These businesses are an important and inspirational part of the region’s thriving food and drink community.

The Ribble Valley and surrounding areas have built a strong reputation for quality produce, and markets such as Goosnargh continue to play an important role in bringing that to local people. They offer a place where established producers and new businesses can stand side by side, sharing their passion with customers who genuinely care about what they buy.

While sales were encouraging, the day was about much more than that. It was about meeting people and sharing the experience of discovering great food and drink together.

Thank you to everyone who came along to make it a great day out!
